why the show started
The idea first started with a small group of friends who happened to be garden railway enthusiasts. Our aims were simple, to create an event for a celebration of all things garden railways, the running enjoyment, together for a collective model railway experience. Showcasing the very best in the garden railways in the larger scales and promoting the hobby to the wider public and have great fun in doing so.
We would like to invite you to attend this unique exhibition venue which is just a short distance from Llangollen town centre surrounded by the glorious countryside of the Dee Valley, a World Heritage Site, in an area of outstanding natural beauty.
So why visit us? Well come and meet the UK’s leading retailers from the world of the Garden Railway hobby. Come and see a great selection of outstanding layouts of the larger scale in railway modelling, catering for all tastes, showing railways from different periods and countries. Locomotives running on various gauges, live steam, gas fired, coal fired, digital operation and analogue operation.
There will be fine scale and heritage exhibits of exceptional quality for the serious modeller, in conjunction with the Association of 16mm Narrow Gauge Modellers Ltd, other great layouts to appeal to all visitors to the show and demonstrations of modelling techniques.
Come and ride behind a real miniature live Steam Locomotive on site for the ultimate garden railway experience.

Llangollen Royal International Pavilion

The world famous Llangollen Royal International Pavilion was chosen as the venue as it is modern and well-appointed offering a wide range of excellent facilities with enough floor space to allow a large selection of retailers, layouts, railway societies, preservation and railway specialist interest groups.
Why not combine a visit to our exhibition with a trip on the Llangollen Railway, which is the only standard gauge heritage railway in North Wales and is located beside the historic Dee Bridge in the centre of Llangollen town. The journey is a relaxing 10 miles travelling through the stunning Dee Valley to the town of Corwen the crossroads of North Wales, or by horse-drawn canal boat to the jaw-dropping Pontcysyllte aqueduct.
